‘I hope Rooney stays at United’, says de Gea

David de Gea, Manchester United goalkeeper, has urged his Red Devils’ team mate Wayne Rooney to join him in committing his future to the club.
After a very illustrious season, which saw the de Gea being named in the Premier League Team of the Year, it was speculated that the goalkeeper would move to his native Spain. However, the 22 year old player quickly dismissed the rumors and said that he will stay at Old Trafford for the upcoming season.
Earlier, Sir Alex Ferguson had revealed that Rooney had submitted a second transfer request which was rejected by the Manchester giants.
The decision regarding Rooney’s future at the club will have to be dealt with by David Moyes and David De Gea is hoping for a positive resolution.
“I can’t imagine that Rooney will not be at United,” said the 22-year-old. “He is one of our captains and points of reference on the pitch. He still has to win many titles with us at United.”
Speaking about their beloved boss’s departure, the Spanish international said, “I felt great sadness when I heard about Ferguson’s goodbye. It will be strange not to see him on the bench or on the training ground. He is everything at Manchester United. He is Manchester United,” he added.
