Van Nistelrooy advises Rooney to leave Old Trafford

Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former Manchester United forward, has advised Wayne Rooney to leave Manchester United if he is not comfortable at the club.
It is understood that England international missed United’s last three games of the season after telling Sir Alex Ferguson that he wanted to play somewhere else.
The new manager David Moyes, though, has hinted he wants to keep the 27-year-old, who has already worked under him at Everton before moving to United in the summer of 2004.
This is not the first time Rooney has submitted a transfer request as he did something similar in 2010 and his former team-mate Van Nistelrooy says it is better the Englishman leaves if he cannot promise the loyalty to United.
He said: “It is a matter of how he feels. If he feels that he is committed to the club then there is an opening. If he says that there isn’t I can’t see a future for him.
“The fans would love him to stay, but it depends on the commitment. If he isn’t fully committed then it’s probably better to move on.”
Van Nistelrooy also had a word for United’s city rivals Manchester City saying that incoming coach Manuel Pellegrini will be a success if he finalizes a deal with Manchester City.
Van Nistelrooy has worked with the Chilean at Malaga and briefly at Real Madrid as well. Meanwhile, Pellegrini reveals he is set to begin talks with City.
Van Nistelrooy praised his former manager saying: “I can only talk from my own experience, half a season under him at Madrid and the last season of my career at Malaga, the experience was really good and on a professional level and a personal level I rate him very highly.
“I think he proved at Villarreal and with Malaga that he can build a new team and get things moving. He can create a structure and culture at the club whereby things get better.
“So in that sense – and even though this is me speaking as an ex-United player – I think he will build something at City.”
